WHAT IS FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION?

Family Life Educators focus primarily on a preventative approach regarding families and ways to function in healthy and productive ways. They find verbal and non-verbal ways to implicate relational skills, such as: good communication, knowledge of human development, good decision-making, positive self-esteem, and the like. The goal of family life educators is to teach "these skills to enable individuals and families to function optimally."

Family life educators look at societal issues, such as: economics, education, and work-family issues, through lenses that focus on individuals and families. By educating through classroom setting or education materials, family life educators provide opportunities to "prevent or minimize" many problems (substance and domestic abuse, debt, etc.)
